Literacy Block Expectations
At WMS, every student is given the opportunity to improve their reading endurance during an hour-long period of sustained reading with a book of their choice.
To increase engagement and promote technological creativity, my Literacy Block classes will feature monthly book review projects using Piktochart - an infographic creation tool. As our scholars use this tool throughout the year with complete freedom, they will learn valuable graphic design methods while they deeply engage in a novel of their choice. Each student will have an opportunity to display their work in front of the class.
Below is an example of an A+ quality book review of the novel Thirteen Reasons Why. Students must feature the same categories: Character Analysis, Themes, Favorite Quote, Plot Analysis, and Personal Opinions. However, EVERY creative and design aspect is completely up to them!
